Material: Porcelain with brown cloth bodies (the dolls); white felt and fabric (the White Rabbit)

Marks: Signed and dated by the artist

Height: 14 inches (the dolls) and 9-1/2 inches (the White Rabbit)

Hair/Eyes/Mouth: Handmade wigs; the queen has a short curly red wig; Alice has a black wig that is straight on the top with Shirley-Temple-like curls that hang down the back/brown stationary eyes; the queen has heavily applied red eyeshadow/closed mouths; the queen has a red heart painted in the center of the lips. The White Rabbit’s facial features are painted.

Clothes: The queen wears a Queen of Hearts (QoH) themed costume, which includes a jeweled crown and a crowned QoH-card-decorated scepter. The white bodice of the dress has multiple white hearts. The puffed sleeves are made from red and white check fabric. The collar is white tulle. The center fabric used for the skirt of the queen’s dress has a playing-card theme. The same white fabric used for the bodice was used for the rest of the skirt. Red tulle extends around the sides and back. The skirt has a crinoline lining. Red and pink heart-print pantaloons and black painted-on shoes complete the queen’s costume.

Upgraded Alice in Wonderland (sold separately) wears a light blue print dress with a white pinafore and fancy crinoline attached to the skirt of the dress, painted-on white tights, and painted-on black shoes. A white ribbon creates a headband with a large bow.

Both dolls wear permanently attached pearl stud earrings.

The White Rabbit wears a black and white check vest, a matching bowtie, and a black top hat. He holds a gold wristwatch that reads “I’m late” on one side and “Property of W. Rabbit” on the back.

Other: Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit, and the decorated box are part of an ultra-limited edition special boxed set. This set is is #2 of 12 made by Goldie Wilson for the Maryland Society of Doll Collectors’ 2020 “Wonderland” luncheon which was to be held on April 25, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the luncheon was canceled. All who paid for this special boxed set of dolls received the set. The upgraded Alice in Wonderland doll was sold separately. The artist included a space in the box for the upgraded Alice or the luncheon Alice in Wonderland doll. The dolls, the White Rabbit, and their costumes were designed by the artist. The box that houses the dolls and the rabbit was also decorated by Goldie with Swarovski crystals, hand-drawn images of characters, and descriptive text from the Alice in Wonderland story. These hand-drawn characters include Alice, Tweedledee, Tweedledum, and the Mad Hatter – all illustrated as African American characters. The doll stands are felt lined. The boxed set includes a certificate of authenticity.
