Name: Heidi Ott Miniature Dollhouse Dolls (Kia and a crawling baby)
Made by and When: Heidi Ott, 2019
Marks: Both dolls are unmarked
The details of the dolls’ heights, the materials, the hair, eyes, mouths, and clothing are included in the following paragraphs and images:

Kia is a 4-inch resin doll with a posable cloth body. This dollhouse doll has black yarn braids, brown-painted eyes, and a closed mouth with brown-painted lips. Representing a teenager, Kia wears a green traditional African-inspired dress with a multicolored (green/orange/yellow) overlay. Gold-tone hoop earrings are attached to a matching bead-accented headwrap. A beaded bracelet adorns Kia’s left wrist. The straps of Kia’s bead-adorned sandals are made from the multicolored overlay fabric. A doll stand was included.

Sold nude, the 2-1/2-inch crawling baby is made of resin with a brown stockinette body. The baby has sculpted and painted black curly hair and hand-painted facial features. Dressed by the curator, the baby wears a hand-crocheted pink dress, a bonnet, and booties designed expressly for Heidi Ott’s miniature babies.
Other: Heidi Ott began creating her renowned 1:12-scale miniature dolls in Switzerland in the mid-1970s (approx. 1976). She began this work out of a lifelong fascination with small things and a desire to create high-quality, fully poseable, detailed dolls and accessories for dollhouses. Heidi redirected her dollmaking to 1:12-scale miniatures around 2004 after making larger dolls for several years.
