Made by and When: Effanbee, 2004 and 2005

Material: Patsyette Beach Time Basic and Patsyette Sweet Surprise are vinyl. Patsyette Lil’ Rose is hard plastic.

Height: 9 inches

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Rooted-black, short curly hair adorned with a green ribbon bow; painted brown side-glancing eyes with painted upper eyelashes, closed button mouth with red lip color

Clothes: The mint green dress has a sheer white collar accented with a white rose bouquet and a white ribbon stream. The dress has an attached ruffle-trimmed voile lining that extends just below the hemline. Underneath the dress is a white one-piece knit undergarment. White mesh socks and faux-leather ribbon-laced shoes complete Patsyette Sweet Surprise’s look.

Hair, Eyes, Mouth:  Molded, painted-black signature Patsy bob; painted brown side glancing eyes with painted upper eyelashes, closed button mouth with red lip color

Clothes:  Yellow swimsuit and a matching cap with an embroidered sailboat on both, white faux leather sandals


Patsyette Lil’ Rose (2005)

Marks: Unmarked

Height: 10 inches

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Dark brown bob-style wig adorned with a green sheer ribbon bow and white cloth flowers, brown sleep eyes with attached upper eyelashes and painted upper and lower side eyelashes, closed button mouth with red lip color

Clothes:  Yellow floral dress, white one-piece knit underwear, white knit socks, white faux leather Mary Jane shoes with a pearl button closure and three cutouts on the toe of the shoes; holds a white wicker basket of pink and white flowers

Other: Robert Tonner acquired the Effanbee Doll Company in 2002; the company is no longer in business. Tonner’s Effanbee used Bernard Lipfert’s original 1928 Patsy sculpt for Patsyette Beach Time. Sweet Surprise and Lil’ Rose use Tonner’s revised Patsy sculpts for Effanbee’s Patsy and Patsyette dolls. Each doll has an Effanbee Durable Dolls heart-shaped gold-tone metal bracelet/necklace, and a heart-shaped “I AM AN EFFANBEE DOLL” paper hang tag.
