Made by and When: Schoenau & Hoffmeister, pre 1930s

Material:  Bisque

Marks: SHPB (with the PB within a star and the S and H outside the star on each side) / 170-3/0

Height: 16 inches

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Black mohair wig, brown glass side-glancing eyes, open mouth with two upper teeth, and painted-red lips

Clothes: Redressed as illustrated in the gallery photos.

Other: Made in Germany pre-1930, this toddler is on a chunky five-piece toddler body with a socket head. Arthur Schoenau was “a founder in the Schoenau and Carl Hoffmeister porcelain factory in 1901, known as Schoenau Hoffmeister Porzellanfabrik Burggrub (SHPB) located in Burggrub, Germany…” Made “before 1930 dolls are marked SHPB with a star.” [Dollreference.com]

  1. Hi Debbie,

    Seeing the word toddler and her little fat baby cheeks triggers my wish to have grand-babies. I have a question…why do her little teeth show in one photo but not in the other? They seem to be photos taken at almost if not the same angle and where we see her teeth, the lips seem more parted than in the other.

  2. Yes, it’s the angle from which the photos were taken that either exposes the teeth fully or partially. If you look closely at the close-up picture, you should be able to see the bottom of the two upper teeth.
