Material: Bisque socket head on a five-piece composition body
Marks: The head is incised A.M. / Germany / 351/7K.
Height: 23 Inches
Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Black painted hair with sculpted curls around the edges, brown glass sleep eyes, open mouth with two porcelain upper teeth and a wobble tongue
Clothes: Redressed in a brown wool play suit with shirt and bowtie, white socks, and white and brown leather baby shoes
Other: Made in Germany, circa 1925, this Armand Marseille sculpt with fuller facial features was dedicated to Black dolls. The 23-inch toddler size is rare. Offered by LiveAuctioneers, the numbered hangtag indicates the doll’s item number.
This handsome doll is now part of the collection of Quinnie Nichols, founder of Queenish Black Dolls.
