Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Black synthetic wig pulled back into a low ponytail with a silver crystal-encrusted ponytail holder, painted black pupils with gray irises, closed mouth with glossy dusty rose lip color

Clothes/Accessories: This lovely doll wears a two-piece gold satin dress with blue beads embellishing the collar and the gold mesh ribbon bow at the waist, has a matching gold handbag. The gold lamé ankle-strap high-heels have a gold satin bow in the back. Lady Sigma wears blue and gold drop earrings and a matching necklace. A straddle doll stand, the base of which contains battery-operated audio of the S. G. Rho song, and a certificate of authenticity were included with the doll.

Other: Part of the inaugural African American Greek-lettered sorority-inspired dolls by Trinity Designs, Inc., the Essence of Lady Sigma and the other sorority-inspired dolls in this line are the first 16-inch high-end collectible sorority dolls. The Essence of Lady Sigma is articulated at the elbows, wrists, upper torso, and knees. The doll’s right hand is custom sculpted into the Sigma Gamma Rho hand sign.

This Essence of Lady Sigma was part of the Perot Museum of Natural and Science’s Eye of the Collector Exhibition from April 16, 2016, through September 5, 2016 (see the last two gallery photos).

Since the creation of the original The Essence of Collection, which included The Essence of Lady Ivy, The Essence of a Zeta, The Essence of Lady Sigma, and The Essence of a Delta, Trinity Designs, Inc. has created several different editions of these dolls and others. Their goal is “to produce high quality collectibles that inspire, captivate and encourage young women and children to love the skin they’re in.” In the video below the gallery, the founder and CEO shares her journey of making the first-ever 16-inch African American Greek-lettered sorority dolls a reality.
