Other: Founded in 1952 in London, England by Conrad and Elsin Rawnsley, the Amanda Jane doll company began making doll clothes for upscale British department stores for different-sized dolls. Their first dolls were made later in the 1950s; however, it is unknown if black dolls were included in their first productions. Their first Amanda Jane 7-inch dolls were made in 1974 and became the company’s leading product. The back of the dolls’ boxes indicates they were “Dressed and packed in England by Amanda Jane Ltd… made in Hong Kong.” No longer in business, Amanda Jane dolls remain highly sought after among doll enthusiasts.
