Name:  Estelle, an Izannah-Walker-style doll

Made by and When: Judi Hunziker, 2010

Material: Papier maché head, stuffed white-cloth body, paint (the head, arms, and legs are painted brown).

Height: 19 inches

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Hand-painted black hair with two spiral side curls, sculpted facial features with brown-painted eyes and a closed mouth

Clothes: A burgundy and white dress with a cameo on the bodice is stitched to the doll’s body.  A removable half-slip has eyelet lace trim, and the white cotton pantaloons are removable. The black painted-on shoes have attached thread laces and gold-painted shoelace holes.

Other: Judi Hunziker created and collects a variety of “olde time dolls.” Estelle’s creation was inspired by the nineteenth-century dollmaker, Izannah Walker.
