Name: Grace Sitting and Grace Standing

Made by and When: Jan McLean for Jan McLean Originals, 2001

Material: Vinyl head, lower arms, and lower legs with stuffed cloth torsos, upper arms, and upper legs; armature for posing

Marks:  (Grace Sitting, on the neck) 2001 / 178/3500; (Grace Standing, on the neck) 2001 / 195/3500. Jan McLean Designs (in a stamped signature) is on the upper backs.

Height: 21 inches in the standing position; the seated doll is 12 inches in the seated position.

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: (Grace Sitting) Auburn mohair wig styled in two loose pigtails with bangs; (Grace Standing) Auburn mohair wig styled in a topknot with bangs; both wear a fabric headband with a large bow. The hazel eyes have applied upper and lower eyelashes. The closed mouths are painted mauve and lined in burgundy.

Clothes: Grace Sitting wears layered green and pink crop tops and a two-tier green and pink skirt over a one-piece black and white long-sleeved romper, a black beaded necklace with a star pendant, and green shoes with black soles and green ribbon ankle ties. Grace Standing wears an orange and pink dress, two crop tops over a black and white long-sleeved romper, and orange and pink shoes with pink ribbon ankle ties. Both dolls wear a personalized gold name bracelet.

Other: The two Grace dolls feature exquisitely sculpted hands and fingers and French-manicured nails. The standing doll won the Australian Doll of the Year 2001 Award and the 2001 Dolls of Excellence Award. The Grace dolls were produced in a limited edition of 3500 by New Zealand doll artist, Jan McLean, who retired from doll making in 2009.
