Overview: First introduced in 2022, Naturalistas are 11-1/2-inch dolls that celebrate Afro-textured hair from 3C to 4C. The Crown Collection is the third wave of Naturalistas dolls. Dayna and Whitney are two of the five dolls in this collection. The other three dolls not included in this installation are Kelsey, Liya, and Paige. Images of all five dolls in the Crown collection are featured on the back of each doll’s box, as illustrated below Whitney’s description. This wave uses a different head sculpt from the Naturalistas dolls in waves 1 and 2. In addition to different hair types, this wave, like the others, includes varying specialized skin tones. The back panel of each doll’s box also includes the doll’s bio, motto, and hair type, as well as a bio of the creator of the Naturalistas brand, DeeDee Wright-Ward.

Dayna

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Dark-brown 3C rooted wavy hair that extends to the back of the thighs, brown-painted eyes with painted upper and lower eyelashes, closed mouth with orange-red lip color

Clothes: Wears a white sleeveless dress with a front-center pyramid-shaped cutout and a balloon hemline, gold-tone vinyl earrings, a gold bangle bracelet, and white thigh-high vinyl boots

Bio: Dayna is an LA native and owner of Naturalistas® “ICON Salon”. With a degree in business and training from a top beauty school, Dayna is a leading natural hair stylist. A businesswoman and fan favorite, Dayna is affectionately known by clients as “The coil whisperer”.

Whitney (sold only at Target)

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Dark-brown 4B rooted hair styled in two long side ponytails, brown painted eyes with green irises, painted upper and lower eyelashes, closed mouth with dark red lip color

Clothes: Wears a two-piece sky-blue Naturalistas-logo’d fashion—a spaghetti strap crop top, and a matching balloon-hemmed skirt; has gold-tone vinyl hoop earrings with a capital N in the center, a gold waist bag, and light-blue platform heels attached to the box liner.

Bio: Sold only at Target, Whitney is from Broward County, Florida, with heritage in the Caribbean. With a degree in media management, she owns and runs one of the top social media firms in the country! As a senior social media executive, Whitney uses her massive platform to support the brands of entrepreneurs within the natural hair community.

Moto: “Big up all mi Caribbean Sisters dem.” Meaning, “Shout out to all of my Caribbean girls!” We see you and wave!
