Hair, Eyes, Mouths: (Little Ones) brown topknot accented with red thread, ivory dots for eyes; (Nettie Brown) brown mohair styled in two side puffs adorned with a dark red ribbon, black dots for eyes; (Bonita) two brown mohair braids tied with natural string at the ends, black dots for eyes; Lizzie High dolls are mouthless.
Clothing: (Little Ones) burgundy and beige gingham dress, beige mock pinafore with a holly border, painted-on off-white stockings, and green painted-on shoes; holds a basket of holly. (Nettie Brown) red, green, white plaid Christmas dress, one red and white striped knit stocking; holds a matching stocking in the right hand, stands on a blue woven rug on which sits a resin mouse holding a resin stocking. (Bonita) burgundy and tan plaid dress with an attached burgundy and tan striped overdress, ecru lace collar with two dark red vertically-placed and centered buttons, a burgundy cap, navy-blue knit socks, and navy-blue and ivory painted-on shoes. Bonita carries a green corduroy backpack on her back and holds a brown paper lunch sack with “Bonita” written on it.
Other: Lizzie High® Ladie and Friends, Inc. are collectible wooden dolls made by Peter and Barbara Wisber based on Peter’s great-great-grandmother, whose name actually was Lizzie High (Heckler). Each doll has a hang tag that includes company information and a short story about the doll.
Little Ones, product #1263: The inside right of the hangtag reads, “Our whimsical wooden folk dolls are an updated version of handcrafted ones from the past… and to personalize each doll, we have lovingly borrowed the wonderful names from our own family. We fondly introduce you to the family and friends of Lizzie High® Dolls.” The inside left of the hangtag reads, “The Little Ones® at Christmas… love decorating the house, baking cookies, trimming the tree… and opening Christmas gifts that rattle.” The back reads: This Lizzie High® doll was handcrafted for you by Karen T. and Jena. The blank round face with two dots for eyes on the Lizzie High® doll is a trademark of Ladie & Friends, Inc. ©Ladie & Friends. Inc. 1990.”
Nettie Brown™ is product #1114. The inside right of Nettie Brown’s hangtag reads, “The blank round face with two dots for eyes on the Lizzie High® doll is a trademark of Ladie & Friends, Inc.” The inside left of the hangtag reads, “Nettie always wears her striped stockings except on Christmas Eve when she hangs them on the mantle…hoping for goodies from Santa.” (On the back) This Lizzie High® doll was handcrafted for you by Barb and Karen/©Ladie and Friends, Inc, 1996.
