Little Mowgli and Baloo and Jimi ‘Goin’ Fishin’

Names:  Little Mowgli and Baloo and Jimi ‘Goin’ Fishin’

Made by and When: Kish & Company (Helen Kish), 2007 and 2012

Material: The dolls are made of vinyl with extra joints at the elbows and knees. Baloo is made of synthetic stuffed fur with a sculpted resin face and fur paw pads.

Height: (Dolls) 7-1/2 inches; (Bear) 13 inches

Hair, Eyes, Mouths: Little Mowgli has a straight black mohair wig. Baloo has variegated aqua, blue, and gray faux fur, felted paw pads, and a sculpted face. Jimi has a reddish-brown hand-crocheted natural-textured wig. Both dolls have brown-painted eyes and closed mouths. The artist hand-painted Jimi’s eyes.

Clothes:

Little Mowgli and Baloo

Little Mowgli wears a faux leather covering tied around the hips and over one shoulder. The front has a long fringe, and each tie has a colored bead.

Jimi ‘Goin’ Fishin’

Jimi ‘Goin’ Fishin’ wears a straw hat crocheted of Japanese paper yarn,  blue shortalls piped in red stitching, holds a brightly colored cloth knapsack with tan sandals slung over one arm, and holds a fishing pole made by Helen’s husband, Tamas. 

Other: Little Mowgli and his bear Baloo represent the main characters in Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Jimi ‘Goin’ Fishin’ was only available to Kish Collector Society members as a preorder. The remaining quantities were offered for $50 more to the 2012 United Federation of Doll Clubs 63rd Convention attendees. Made in a limited edition of 80 dolls, the Jimi in this installation is doll #7. (Little Mowgli uses the same head sculpt as Anjali. Jimi uses the Jada sculpt.)
