Marks:  Joey’s handmade doll stand is hand-signed by the artist—Joey / F. C. Baker. Handwritten by the artist on Amanda’s back: Portrait of Amanda / by / Faye / Corcoran / Baker / 1/23/83

Height: 5 and 7-1/2 inches, respectively

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Hand-applied black synthetic hair, hand-painted facial features with painted-brown eyes, closed mouths.

Clothes/Accessories: (Joey) Wears a glued-on straw hat, a white shirt with a Peter Pan collar, a navy-blue bowtie, and blue wool short pants; has bare feet; with the left hand Joey holds a pair of black shoes with black socks tucked inside. Joey has a handmade slingshot in the back pants pocket.  Joey’s handmade doll stand has a leather-wrapped base. Underneath the doll stand on a label is written F. C. Baker $135. 

(Amanda) Wears a blue floral-print dress trimmed in lighter blue rickrack at the bodice, sleeves, and near the hemline, white panties, bare feet

Other: Joey and Amanda are one-of-a-kind dolls that were acquired from an antique shop in Louisville, KY in 2016. According to the shop owner, the dolls’ former owner was a nonagenarian who had collected all types of dolls and had the means to buy whatever she wanted. Joey and Amanda were part of a collection of over 5,000 dolls representing different ethnicities.
