Name: My Child Girl and Boy
Made by and When: Mattel, ca. 1985
Material: Felt over sculpted heads with stuffed felt bodies and extremities
Marks: On their lower left buttocks, each doll has a green heart with My Child™ written inside and a body tag that reads: ©Mattel, Inc., 1985. / Hawthorne, CA 90250 U.S.A. / Made in China (on the body tags, a unique serial number is stamped below the words, Made in China). The boy’s serial number is 2306R2. The girl’s serial number is 2006R2. Care instructions are on the opposite side of the body tag.
Height: 14 inches
Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Both dolls have rooted hair. The boy’s hair is short and black; the girl has long curly brown hair. They have inserted brown eyes with black pupils and several painted upper eyelashes. Their closed mouths are painted light red.
Clothes: Dressed in an identical style of My Child clothing, the boy wears a red shirt and red shorts with blue cloth suspenders and blue and white grosgrain trim at the waist. He wears a white hat and replaced shoes. The girl’s shirt and shorts are orange with green and brown grosgrain trim at the waist and green cloth suspenders. White panties are worn underneath and white Cabbage Patch doll shoes cover the girl’s feet. The dolls originally wore Pampers diapers.
Other: Made to sit or stand, My Child dolls have teddy-bear-jointed arms and legs, jointed necks, bent baby legs, and stitched fingers and toes. Created as one-of-a-kind dolls, each doll has a unique serial number on its body tag. Offered in several different complexions, eye colors, hair colors and hairstyles, these two dolls represent brown and light-brown-complexioned children.
