Other: Chatty Cathy is a pull-string talker. According to a Wikipedia entry about the white version, which preceded the Black version by two years, “The doll had eleven phrases when it came on the market in 1960, such as ‘I love you’, ‘I hurt myself!’ or ‘Please take me with you.’ Seven more phrases, such as ‘Let’s play school’ or ‘May I have a cookie?’ were added to the doll’s vocabulary in 1963 for a total of 18 phrases.”

Because fewer Black versions than the white counterpart were made, Black Chatty Cathy dolls are rare. The second version of Black Chatty Cathy, released in 1963, has two side ponytails and bangs.
